Looking back...

As I grow older each year, I reflect on things that have occurred in my life. Thinking back in time and making my own attempt of "time travel" by re-living moments in my past. It amazes me how some senses are stimulated by some memories. The smell of Tulare, CA after a rainstorm has come and gone. The sounds heard at the Bob Mathias Stadium during football games, soccer matches and track meets. The taste of food and drinks, during my nights out with various friends; the feel of car seat covers, the vibrations from a bumping stereo and the pat on the back given to friends. The sights experienced as I ventured out of town with friends, family and teammates.

There were times of absolute happiness and times of total heartbreak...but that is what life is all about. It is not about fame or fortune, but being wealthy in love and rich from the thoughts of love from friends and family. They say money can't buy happiness, and I believe that because I know several people that are wealthy--but live as though they must watch everyone around them. If you are watching everyone, then you are not letting anyone close to you to love you for who you are and not what you can give to them.

I am not going to pretend that I know the secrets to life and happiness because I am just a simple man living his life to the best of my ability. I don't want to be on my deathbed and have regrets because that will mean to me that I wasted the only lifetime that I will ever have. So with that said, I dedicate this blog to all those that have touched my heart and I have had the honor of calling a friend (even if you don't call me a friend now).
